Alzira is an opera in a prologue and two acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto by Salvatore Cammarano, based on the play Alzire, ou les Américains by Voltaire. The first performance was at the Teatro San Carlo, Naples, on 12 August 1845.

In 2013, to mark the bicentenary of Giuseppe Verdi’s birth, the Teatro Regio di Parma and Unitel Classica joined forces to bring a truly unique project to fruition. The composer’s 26 operas, as well as the [i]Requiem Mass[/i], which is closely linked to these operas, are all included. Most of them will be performed and recorded in audio-video in Parma and the surrounding area. A unique box set of 27 Blu-rays. For the very first time, and to mark this anniversary, the complete works of Verdi’s operas in high definition and surround sound, released on Blu-ray by C Major Entertainment.
