Trivia

Things worth knowing

• 1Released 17 years ago.
• 2Directed by Simone North, shot by Jules O'Loughlin. Note their partnership — DPs and directors often return to each other across a career.
• 3Original score by Catriona Hughes. Worth a dedicated listen after — most great films lose half their impact without the score.
• 4Editor Jane Moran shaped the rhythm. On an edit-heavy film, the editor does more to control your pulse than the director.
• 5Guy Pearce and Sam Neill and Miranda Otto carry the top of the cast.
• 6Marketing tagline: "She hated her own life, so she took someone else's.".
• 7IMDB entry: tt0995851 — still the authoritative cross-reference for credits and trivia.
• 8Classified under 11 themes, including "killing", "babysitter", "based on true story", "missing person".
